4/21 Forgiveness for the Father

Theme: Living for Jesus

Colossians 3:13 "If one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you must also forgive."

Reflection:

Forgiveness is one of the hardest fruits to bear, especially when the hurt is fresh and frequent. Yet when we look at God’s character, we see a steady, undeserved mercy. Although we sin against Him daily, He continues to forgive us. If the Lord shows such grace when we ignore His Word and resist His will, it challenges us to reconsider our own reluctance to forgive others.

Forgiveness grows as a fruit of the Spirit when we remain rooted in God’s Word and consistent in prayer. On our own, it feels nearly impossible. However, as the Holy Spirit works within us and the Truth reshapes our hearts, what once felt unnatural begins to take root. Forgiveness becomes a genuine, growing response rather than a burden.

Questions to Consider:

When do you find it most difficult to forgive others? How does forgiveness set you free?

Application:

Who can you forgive in your life today, ultimately setting yourself free of the burden of anger and resentment?

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for forgiving us even after we sin against You again and again. We do not deserve Your gracious forgiveness. You give it anyway. Lord, we pray that we can model our own hearts after Yours. When we encounter those who have harmed us in the past, give us the strength to forgive them. We aim to not only claim that we forgive them with our lips but show them with our actions. We pray that our transformed hearts will change our anger into love, for we are all siblings in Christ. Lord, we love You. All of this is in Your holy name, Amen.
