Theme: Keeping Him at the Center

1 Peter 4:14 “If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you”

Reflection:

In this verse, Peter is calling God’s disciples to a faith filled with boldness and without shame. Peter is specifically calling us to share the Gospel with nonbelievers and those who may push against the Good News. He tells us that we must not be ashamed of our faith for one conversation can lead to salvation. When we inevitably experience rejection, it is counted as a blessing for we know that the Holy Spirit is within us. Suffering for Christ’s sake also shows a shift away from the world and towards our Father, bringing Him glory.

What a beautiful gift the Spirit of glory and of God is!!! He is truly with us at all times, never leaving our side. There is such a comfort that comes with Gods everlasting presence which gives us the confidence to proclaim that Jesus is our Lord and Savior especially during times of darkness. This verse is an amazing reminder that God gives us His Spirit so that we may bring Him glory and draw attention away from worldly desires, placing the focus on Him only.

Questions to Consider:

Does the fear of rejection stop you from spreading the Word of God? How do you see the Spirit of God resting on others around you?

Application:

Seek one uncomfortable conversation about your faith this week. Put your fear of rejection and shame aside and focus your eyes on the Spirit that is within you for guidance.

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We are so abundantly grateful for the Spirit of glory that You have given us! You are truly an awesome God who works all things for our good. Lord, I pray that we can continue to fix our eyes on You through insults, hardships, and calamities, resting in the peace of Your love and grace. Give us the courage to be bold in our faith, putting ourselves in uncomfortable situations so that we may grow closer to You. We love You so much. All of this is in Your holy name, Amen.
