Theme: Living for Jesus
James 2:18 "Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works."
Reflection:
Christianity is the only religion that does not believe that we can be saved solely by our works. Instead, our salvation is based on an intimate relationship with the Lord. This truth does not decrease the importance of our actions, it simply reshapes their purpose. As we begin to grow closer to God, our hearts are transformed and obedience becomes a natural response rather than an obligation. The byproduct of this deepened faith is a desire to live as a reflection of God's character: providing for the poor, spreading the Good News, and emphasizing purity. Our works are not the foundation of our faith, but a portrayal of spiritual transformation, revealing that our faith is real and active.
Questions to Consider:
How have you been serving the Lord recently? Have these actions been replacing prayer or reflecting prayer?
Application:
Write down the timeline of your day on paper. Mark the moments or situations where those around you would recognize that you have the inner peace and strength from the Lord that they long for. If these moments are few and far between, reflect on how you can change your attitude or behaviors to align more closely with God's Word.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for accepting us into Your Kingdom not for our works but for our love for You. Thank you for giving us the choice to follow You and live a more purposeful life. Guide is in acting according to Your word so that our lives may be a reflection of Your character. We desire to serve You, Lord, as it is a privilege to be one of Your children. Help us to take the lesson from this devotional and embrace its Truth while truly applying it to our lives. All of this is in Your holy name, Amen.
