Theme: Living for Jesus
Galatians 6:1-3 "Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ."
Reflection:
Holding those around us accountable is an extremely important part of our fellowship. We are called to guide both nonbelievers and believers towards the path God has laid out for them. Correcting our friends may be a difficult assignment, as we do not want to seem hypocritical or rude. However, Jesus sets the example for sharpening others in their walk of faith; he encourages us to approach them gently and without judgement. If this still causes strife, it is better to warn them of the wrath of God than allow them to continue being slaves of sin.
Not only should we guide those around us to act according to the Word, but we must be able to accept correction ourselves. This means receiving it with an open heart and a willingness to change in order to grow closer to our Father.
Questions to Consider:
Are you able to receive feedback without getting defensive? How can you gently nudge those around you towards sanctification this week?
Application:
Ask both a nonbeliever and a follower of Christ where you can improve in your walk with God. Ask them to identify your weaknesses and provide suggestions on how you can improve.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Your gentle correction and strong guidance has led us closer to You. Help us to continue pursuing You so that our hearts may be transformed. We strive to live as Jesus did. Give us the courage and gentleness to lead those around us to You while searching for ways to grow in our walk of faith. All of this is in Your holy name, Amen.
