5/9 Signs of Scripture

Theme: Living for Jesus

2 Timothy 3:16 “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness”

Reflection:

Scripture should be the guiding force for our lives. It acts not as a rule book, but gentle and stern guidance, warning us of the evil ways of the world. God did not create these corrections to punish us. Rather, He gives us His Word so that we may steer clear of the pain that sin causes us, knowing that following His Word guides us to a righteous and purposeful life. Scripture can be used to gently correct those around us, teach us the will of God, and train us to be better followers of Christ.

Questions to Consider:

Do you read Scripture to simply understand or do you actually apply it to your life? How can you ensure you are reading with intention.

Application:

Pick a verse to memorize for this week that relates to something you are struggling with. Write it down or repeat it over and over so that you do not forget it. When you run into this challenge, reflect on the verse and what it means for your life.

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for giving us Your Word to live by. Thank You for forgiving us when we stray from Your guidance that removes evil from us. Lord, give us the wisdom to read Your Word and write it on the tablets of our hearts. Not only help us to understand Your Word, but apply it throughout our lives. We love You and strive to serve You. All of this is in Your holy name, Amen.
