Job 39:13-18 "Thing wings of the ostrich wave proudly, but are they the pinions and plumage of love? For she leaves her eggs to the earth and lets them be warmed on the ground, forgetting that a foot may crush them and that the wild beast may trample them."
Reflection:
At first glance, this verse may not mean much to you. I encourage you to read it again and pay attention to the detail in which God describes this ostrich in His answer to Job. He notices her actions, thoughts, mistakes, and motives. Not only is God intentional with the making of His creation but also with His observations and interventions. God notices all of the small details that are a product of His goodness and faithfulness. Why do we wait for others to notice when the Most High already has? He sees your pain. He sees your joy. He sees your efforts. He sees your works. He sees your anxieties. The King of kings and the Lord of lords cares for us yet we still place the opinion of man above our God's.
Questions to Consider:
Where have you been seeking the approval of man? If you truly believed that God sees you for who you are and continues to love you, how would that change where you bring your fear, gladness, or hurt?
Application:
Surrender. Let go of the desire for man's approval by placing your identity in Christ and abiding in Him. Open your heart to God's intimate examination of your heart.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for Your creation that was made with such love, care, and detail. We thank You for noticing. Even when others don't notice, we have confidence that You have already seen us and determined our next steps. We just want to know You, God. We want to know Your heart and be filled with reverence. You have created everything, yet You lose track of nothing. We love You and we thank You for Your sacrifice. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
