4/14 Joy in Jesus

Theme: Keeping Him at the Center

Psalm 30:11-12 "You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; you have loosed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, that my glory may sing your praise and not be silent."

Reflection:

Often times, the Lord meets us at our lowest moments and lifts us up with Him. This said, it is when we experience the most amount of suffering that we wonder why God has left us. This is not the case at all. God works in powerful ways that cannot be predicted and although He does not want us to be in pain, He can use our sorrow to bring us closer to Him. Our sorrow eventually turns to eternal joy. This does not happen overnight, rather it occurs through closeness with the Lord, persistent time in His word, and committing your life to Him. The end result is much greater than anything we can imagine. Our sorrow becomes songs of praise, our feelings become faith, and our pain loses its prevalence.

Questions to Consider:

Where are you focusing more on your feelings rather than your faith? How might God use this suffering for your own growth?

Application:

Identify an area in your life that feels heavy. In a prayer to God, do not ask for Him to lighten the load but to broaden your shoulders. Bearing these burdens and lifting them up to the Lord will slowly turn your pain into gladness.

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You, Lord, for shedding Your light on our darkness so that we may sing Your praise. Lord, You give us so many reasons to glorify Your name. As we continue to deepen our faith and face persecution, we ask that You remind us that great joy is the product of suffering. Jesus, we understand that no amount of suffering we experience even compares to the pain You went through. You did it all for us sinners, expecting nothing in return. Lord, help me to follow Jesus' ways and bear the fruits of his generous, faithful, and patient heart. All of this is in Your holy name, Amen.
