Theme: Keeping Him at the Center
Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Reflection:
As Christians, it is common to be caught in the lie that we have to work for God's love and forgiveness. Through Jesus' death and resurrection, salvation is given to us as a gift so that we may receive God despite our sinful nature. A gift is known as something that is given for free and without expectation of anything in return. God's greatest gift is that He sent His Son to suffer so that we may have life. This is a great sacrifice considering He knew that people would continue to reject Him as Lord. We should strive to adopt this sense of selflessness, giving to others without expectation of anything in return.
Questions to Consider:
What other gifts has God graciously given you? How can you use these gifts to make an impact on others?
Application:
Identify an area within your life that you have been trying to earn God's love. In a prayer to God, ask Him to change this perspective so that you may receive His gift without condition.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the free gift of eternal life. Thank You for the undeserved forgiveness. Thank You for constantly molding us to better ourselves for Jesus' return. We pray that as we take this lesson with us today, we can use the gifts You have given us to impact those around us. Not only will we utilize these gifts, but we will make sacrifices so that they make come to their fullest in the hearts of those around us. All of this is in Your holy name, Amen.
