Theme: Keeping Him at the Center
Deuteronomy 6:5 "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might."
Reflection:
The greatest commandment of all is to love God with everything He has given us. Yes, it is important to follow all of the commandments and guidelines, however, without a love for the Lord our discipleship means nothing. Not only does loving God add meaning to our works, but it also changes the perspective from reluctance to a desire to please Him. Our lives should be centered around loving Christ and living in His likeness. When our hearts take this position, following the Word of the Lord becomes much easier and more natural.
Questions to Consider:
What does it mean to love God with all your soul? Does this impact the way we love others?
Application:
As you go about your day, act as though each person you encounter is Jesus. Let His love and His light shine through You in these interactions. Observe how your character and disposition change when approaching situations in this way.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Today we simply want to show our love and devotion to You, Lord. We thank You for Your unconditional love despite our sinful nature. Lord, we pray that we can learn to love like You, with our whole soul and might. We lift Your name up to the highest places as our hearts attempt to radiate Your love. All of this is in Your name, Amen.
