Theme: Trusting in God's Plan
2 Timothy 4:16-17 "At my first defense no one came to stand by me, but all deserted me. May it not be charged against them! But the Lord stood by me and strengthened me"
Reflection:
In this generation, we are so quick to rely on our friends for advice, approval, or acceptance. Due to the limitations of man, it is extremely difficult for them to meet our every need. Despite understanding this, we are let down time and time again, especially when we experience hardships. The only one who does not experience these human limitations is our Lord and savior. He is with us each day as our everlasting listener, teacher, friend, and mentor. When man continues to fail us, there is comfort in the knowledge that God never will. He will not desert us when we are struggling to find our faith. He will not desert us when we turn our backs to Him. Instead, He will strengthen us in times of weakness so that we may bring glory to His name.
Questions to Consider:
When faced with a problem do you run to Jesus or your friends? How do you feel when your friends are not able to live up to your expectations?
Application:
This week, try shifting your response to trials: before seeking validation or advice from others, go directly to God in prayer and Scripture. Trust that His presence is enough, even when others fall short.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for Your constant presence in our lives, never leaving our side even when all others do. As we continue to face persecution, we pray that we first run to You for the wisdom and guidance we need. Lord, You are the answer. You have not failed us, and You never will. Help us to trust in that knowledge as we learn to become more dependent on You. All of this is in Your holy name, Amen.
