Theme: Keeping Him at the Center
Isaiah 40:8 "The grass withers, the flower fades, but the Word of our God will stand forever."
Reflection:
This is a beautiful verse that truly embodies how reliable and trustworthy God really is. In a life that is constantly changing and filled with uncertainty, God's Word is our stronghold. It is a timeless work that does not need to be altered to accommodate the world, rather, the world must change in relation to God's Word.
Many people attempt to transform the Word of God into a meaning that aligns with their personal interest or benefit. This may include toeing the line of temptation, loosely interpreting God's commands, or picking and choosing what they want to apply to their lives. This verse reminds us that although times have changed, God knew they would. He accounted for this. His Word, full of truth and life, never loses its significance and relevance in our lives.
Questions to Consider:
Are there areas that you have changed the true meaning of God's Word for your own benefit? How did you feel when doing so? Guilty? Wrong?
Application:
In this area of your life specifically, align your actions with the real truth. Embrace the discomfort and know that this is how God intended us to follow His unchanging Word.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We thank You that You have given us Your Word to cling onto. In a world where everything is fleeting, Your Word remains true and perfect. Lord, Your Word is not meant to be up for interpretation so guide us in strictly following You despite the discomfort it may cause. Thank You for being a stronghold. Thank You for being someone worthy of all of our respect and praise. Lord, let us not forget Your power this week as we continue to seek Your face. All of this is in your Holy name, Amen.
