Theme: Keeping Him at the Center
2 Corinthians 4:16-18 “So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.”
Reflection:
Life is temporary, but God’s work within us is eternal. In difficult seasons, it is easy to focus on our struggles and lose sight of what God is doing in our hearts. Yet through every hardship and triumph, He is renewing us, strengthening our faith, and drawing us closer to Him. When we combine His work with intentional prayer, reflection on Scripture, and living a godly life, we begin to focus on the things that are eternal rather than transient.
Regardless of whether we are going through a challenge or a triumph, our experience is used to shape and prepare us for the path the Lord has laid for us. When we view these experiences we often see hardship, burden, annoyance, or lack of necessity. However, when we look deeper into the roots these experiences lay, resilience, courage, strength, and passion for the Lord are present. Keeping Christ at the center of our lives, pushes us to see our challenges not as meaningless burdens, but as opportunities for spiritual growth and preparation for eternal glory. The things of this world will fade, but the work God is doing within us will last forever.
Questions to Consider:
How is God working in your heart this week? How is His work equipping you to spread the Gospel and prepare for eternity?
Application:
When you catch yourself feeling discouraged or frustrated, remind yourself that God is using every situation to shape your faith and prepare your walk. Focus on how the situation can make an eternal impact.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for continuously working within us to shape us into better followers of You. Lord, we know that You give us a purpose that honors and glorifies You. We also understand that You allow affliction in order to better equip us to follow Your path. Lord, we just pray that You can make our path straight, encouraging us to keep our eyes fixed on You. Lord, help us to focus on what is unseen so that we may be prepared for an eternal weight of glory. All of this is in Your holy name, Amen.
