Theme: Living for Jesus
Philippians 4:6-7 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
Reflection:
During times of anxiety and hardship, we are invited into prayer as an act of trust and dependence on God. It is in these moments that God replaces our anxious thoughts, replacing them with the truth of His Word. As Christ guards our hearts, He surrounds us with peace and wisdom. Through a consistent relationship with Him—spending time in His Word and in prayer—we begin to grow in discernment. This discernment helps us recognize what comes from our flesh and what is led by the Spirit. It reshapes our desires, guiding us to bring requests before God that align with His will and surrendering the outcome, ultimately trusting that God's plan will be done.
Questions to Consider:
How can God guard your heart while testing your faith through trials? How can you reflect the peace He protects you with?
Application:
Throughout the next week, look for moments of anxiousness. During these moments, pause, take a deep breath, and lift up Your anxieties to Him. Replace them with reading the Word, giving thanks, or sending your requests to God.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We thank You for guarding our hearts with Your Word and wisdom as we go through various trials and tribulations. We come before You to surrender our desires. Although we have specific plans and request that we lift up to You, Your will be done. Lord, we trust in You to guide us down the path You have set for us. Help us to keep our eyes focused on You not only during anxious times, but during the joyful moments as well. All of this is in Your holy name, Amen.
