Theme: Living for Jesus
Isaiah 1:18 "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool."
Reflection:
This verse contains the direct Word of the Lord in Isaiah's vision. The Lord is telling the people that although they have sinned against Him, His grace will be sufficient for full forgiveness. This statement prophesizes Jesus dying on the cross for our sin, wiping our slate clean so that our hearts may be renewed in Christ. God's grace is perfect. It shines the brightest through our weaknesses and disobedience.
However, this does not give us the right to continue living a sinful lifestyle simply because we are "covered" by His grace. His grace is not there as an excuse but as an opportunity. By turning crimson into wool we are given a new opportunity to spend our lives living for Christ. It is a chance to start anew, denying our flesh and accepting the Spirit.
Questions to Consider:
How do you view the fresh start that Jesus gives you? How can you use this fresh start to follow Him more intentionally?
Application:
Accept God's grace with an open heart, allowing His forgiveness to push you to forgive yourself. Use this grace to follow Him more closely and devote your life to Him.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the grace that You have given us. Your grace becomes perfect in our weakness. Help us to rely on You during our weak moments so that we may follow You closely. Thank You for sending Your son, Jesus, who wipes our sins from crimson to wool. We love You. All of this is in Your holy name, Amen.
