Theme: Trust in God's Plan
Psalm 18:29 "For by you I can run against a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall"
Reflection:
Our God gives us the strength, grace, and obedience to overcome persecution and trials daily. Yes, we may be able to combat these struggles on our own for a while, but He gives us the everlasting resistance needed for inner peace. It is true that we may be able to suppress the anxiety or stress by our own will or by venting to our friends. However, when we look to God for help in these situations, He does so much more than resist these emotions. He sets us on the correct path for our lives, encouraging us to live for a larger purpose.
Questions to Consider:
Are you going to continue approaching challenges on your own? Or are you going to humble yourself before God and allow Him to take the burden and give you strength?
Application:
Think of two situations in your life where you have asked your friends for advice before turning to God. Reflect on why you sought consolation from an imperfect human being before turning your eyes to a perfect, all-knowing God.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We thank you for encouraging us to continue to glorify You as we face trials and tribulations. You give us strength when we are weak. When we are presented with challenges, give us the wisdom to turn our faces to You and humble ourselves before our God. Lord, You are the only one who has the answers that we look for in others. We humbly come before you with heavy hearts as we recognize that it is instinct to turn to our friends or family before You. Despite this, You have never left our side. All glory goes to You. All of this is in Your holy name, Amen.
