4/7 Grace is a Gift

Theme: Trust in God's Plan

2 Corinthians 12:9-10 "But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me."

Reflection:

Often times we present our good deeds or acts of discipleship to God rather than our weaknesses.  Yet these verses remind us that it is in those weak places where God chooses to move hearts. Our struggles, insecurities, and limitations are not obstacles to His presence, rather they are invitations for it. When we acknowledge our need, we make room for His grace to sustain us and His power to be revealed. This verse also suggests that God's power is perfect in the moments we feel far from Him, the least hopeful, or frustrated with His timing. Although these feelings may lead us to "give up on God", He never gives up on us as he continuously transforms our hearts to follow Him.

Questions to Consider:

Where am I weak in my faith? How can I invite God into this aspect of my life?

Application:

Think about a time where the world felt heavy and the only prayer you could muster was "Help me". Now think about how God worked in you to lighten your load and develop resilience. This is proof that when we are weak, Christ makes us strong.

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for Your perfect gift of grace that is more than enough for us. So often we try to rely on our own strength, hiding our weaknesses from You and the world around us. You remind us that Your power is made perfect in these times as our struggles are used for Your glory. Lord, teach us to depend on You daily for strength, grace, and hope. Help us to trust that You are working through the very weaknesses we are fearful and ashamed. All of this is in Your holy name, Amen.
