Theme: Keeping Him at the Center
Acts 4:31 "And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness."
Reflection:
Prayer is one of the most powerful ways to connect with God and deepen our relationship with Him. Throughout the day, the Lord patiently waits for us to come to Him, desiring not just to hear our requests, but to spend time with us. He longs to guide us through challenges that ultimately strengthen our faith. Like any meaningful relationship, it cannot be one sided. We should not only seek God in moments of need without offering Him our time, trust, and devotion. Instead, we are called to surrender our attention, burdens, and sense of control to Him. This includes finding a private place for prayer and giving all of our attention to God. When we begin to pray with this kind of intention and intimacy, we discover the true power of prayer. God is limited by nothing and through Him all things are made possible.
Questions to Consider:
How often do you set aside time to be alone with God? Do you speak the entire time or do you give Him time to respond?
Application:
Set a timer on your phone for ten minutes in a quiet room. Use five of these minutes to talk to God, expressing your gratitude and presenting your requests to Him. Leave the last five minutes to listen for God's voice and guidance. Although prayer is not meant to be rigid or uncomfortable, this is a good practice that teaches you to quiet your mind and focus solely on Him.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You with grateful hearts. Grateful that You desire to be in relation with us. Grateful that You wait for us to speak to You no matter how long it takes. Grateful that You answer our prayers in Your perfect timing. Lord, we pray that this devotional will encourage us to find quiet time within our day that is reserved only for You. All of this is in Your holy name, Amen.
