4/22 Conforming to Christ

Theme: Keeping Him at the Center

Romans 12:2 "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."

Reflection:

When we devote our lives to Christ, we enter a new calling: a calling to live holy lives set apart from the patterns of the world. This means that we do not give into the temptations of our flesh but reflect Christ in all of our actions. In both hardship and success, our responses should be marked by humility, peace, and steady strength. The things we watch, listen to, and speak should honor God rather than contradict His truth. When we share that truth, we are called to do so with gentleness and compassion, not pride or harshness. This way of living can feel isolating at times but remembering that the Lord personally chose us to be His disciples transforms that feeling into purpose. As His followers, we are called to be a light that draws other closer to Him.

Questions to Consider:

Are the things you consume (music, media, conversations) drawing you closer to Christ or further away? In what areas of your life do you struggle most to live “set apart”? Why?

Application:

Write down ten adjectives that describe what being a "light" looks like. Throughout this week, implement these godly characteristics and notice how the joy of God takes root.

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for calling us to live a life set apart from others. Thank You for making us in Your image so that we may use these characteristics to bring others to You. Help us to reflect Your character in our thoughts, words, actions, and consumption. When we begin to feel alone, remind us of the purpose You have given us along with the reassurance that You will never leave our side. Lord, we pray that we can be a light to those around us, ultimately, drawing them closer to You. All of this is in Your holy name, Amen.
