Theme: Keeping Him at the Center
Isaiah 43:1-2 "'Fear not for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you"
Reflection:
As I was told a few months ago, Satan knows our name but calls us by our sin. In his eyes, our sin is our identity, and he attempts to keep us as slaves of sin through temptation and false promises. In contrast, God knows our sin but calls us by our name. Our Heavenly Father knows all of the evil resting in our hearts and minds from judgement to lust. However, He knows our identity is greater in Him. God calls us by our name, reflecting a personal and intimate relationship based on forgiveness and love.
Due to the sinful nature of our flesh, God promises to stick with us through our struggles with sin. He encourages us to forgive ourselves as He has forgiven us, not becoming consumed by our worldly desires.
Questions to Consider:
Have you fully forgiven yourself for the actions of your past? Do you truly believe that God has forgiven you?
Application:
Instead of allowing guilt and shame to push you further from God during times of temptation, use these moments as opportunities to run toward Him in prayer, repentance, and trust.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for calling us, Your children, by our name rather than our sin. You find our identity rooted in Your image, love, and forgiveness. Help us to forgive ourselves, finding grace in the moments we make mistakes. However, push us to learn from these mistakes in order to grow closer to You. As we go throughout this week, fill our hearts with gratitude and joy so that Your light may shine through us onto others. All of this is in Your holy name, Amen.
