Theme: Keeping Him at the Center

Galatians 5:24 “Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.”
Reflection:
As followers of Christ, we are called to leave behind the old ways of living that are rooted in selfish desires and things that do not please God. This verse is a powerful reminder of what it means to truly belong to Jesus. When we belong to Him, we no longer allow our fleshly desires to control our lives. This does not mean temptation disappears, but it means we choose daily to follow Jesus, surrendering our struggles and desires to God. Our identity in Christ is not defined by our failures or struggles, but by the new life we have been given through Him.
Crucifying the flesh daily can be difficult, but God gives us everything we need through His Word, prayer, community, and the Holy Spirit. Each day requires denying our flesh and taking up our cross, especially in difficult situations where obeying God may not be easy. However, the more we walk with Him, the more our hearts begin to desire what is holy and righteous instead of what only satisfies us temporarily.
Questions to Consider:
Are there fleshly desires or habits in your life that you continue to hold onto instead of surrendering to God? Do your daily actions reflect someone who truly belongs to Christ? In what areas is God calling you to deny yourself and trust Him more fully? How can you deny the flesh and follow Jesus more faithfully each day?
Application:
This week, spend time identifying one area of your life where your flesh tends to take control instead of the Spirit. Rather than feeding that selfish desire, intentionally replace it with something that draws you closer to God through prayer, Scripture, worship, or serving others. Remember that victory over sin is not achieved through our own strength, but through daily surrender to Jesus and allowing the Holy Spirit to transform us through our time with God.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the new life we have through Jesus Christ. Because of Him, we can now walk freely in the Spirit and no longer be enslaved to sin. Give us the courage and strength to deny our flesh and bring our struggles before You. When temptation comes, help us choose what is pleasing to You rather than what satisfies us temporarily. Shape our hearts so that our desires align with Your will and remind us that our true identity is found in Christ alone. Teach us to walk closely with You each day and help our lives reflect Your goodness and holiness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
