Theme: Trust in God’s Plan
Psalm 18:6 “In my distress I called upon the Lord; to my God I cried for help. From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry to him reached his ears.”
Reflection:
One of the greatest comforts of being a follower of a Christ is that He hears us. He hears our prayers, cries, and distress even when we attempt to hide it from others. Even though the answers may not come immediately, God is continuously working within us through both hardship and success.
Often times we believe that we need to find the perfect words for God to truly understand us. However, He knows our hearts inside and out and continues to intentionally listen for us to call out. Not only does He listen, but He understands. God understands all hardships we face. He sent His only son in the form of man to experience these challenges so we recognize that Jesus has already been through everything we are put through. This form of relatability should push us to call upon Him during these times for God is the only one who can fully understand our pain and suffering.
Questions to Consider:
What have you been going through where you have been thinking that God just does not understand?
Application:
Take this moment and evaluate Jesus’ life. Jesus experienced temptation, sorrow, and the ways of the world just like you. Reflect on how not only does God understand our cries, but He is the only one who truly comprehends our situation.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for always answering our calls. Thank You for understanding our pain and suffering although it can lead us away from You. Lord, You have been so gracious and kind to us. We pray that as this week continues we can call out to You during every moment, confident that You hear us. All of this is in Your holy name, Amen.
